- ANNOUNCEMENT: Reading Competition
I am so happy to announce that Lydia's library is hosting our first-ever reading competition! In celebration of National Book Week (which begins tomorrow), we are hosting a weeklong reading competition. No fee to join, no harm in trying, but you will receive the joy of reading. If you happen to be the lucky winner, the prizes include: a post tailored to your reading taste, a free printable digital bookmark, and early access to three different blog posts! From March 1st to March 7th, you can log your reading minutes in hopes of winning. I am very well aware that I did not post on Wednesday, because I was already planning on making this exciting announcement. This competition will be run on the honor system. I trust that all of you will be honest while recording your minutes. We have a quite straightforward plan of attack! Firstly, record your total number of minutes per day in the Google Form Below (always round down). Secondly, I will post your score on the leaderboard! Keep updating your minutes read to stay in the lead! Remember that I need to go through manually and record everyone's score into a Google Drive, so it will not appear immediately. All of your minutes are multiplied by two to get the score that you earn!
- The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo- T.J.R.
Alrighty! Here is another amazing Taylor Jenkins Reid book. I finished this book before Atmosphere, but last week, Atmosphere was fresh on my mind. Therefore, last week, that is what I decided to post on. This book was incredible! Another smashing hit from my perspective. This book centers around a Hollywood star who has been put under a microscope in the press and keeps finding herself in abusive, fake, or friend-zoned marriages. Throughout her media and romantic journeys, she discovers a new part of herself that she never knew could exist. She finds the love of her life, but never ends up marrying, given... the circumstances. This book was incredible, but I really don't want to give too much away. Part of what made this book so nice for me was that I lent it from my cousin. Usually, I don't care if someone has already read a book, but this was HILARIOUS. My cousin left little notes in the pages that were really funny to me. I remember one of them just being, "NOOO EVELYN MY QUEEN!!!" Anyway, these little notes just made my experience with that book that much better. This book was so much more than little notes in the margins and marital status, though. Her career influences so many decisions, not to mention that any step she takes will be fully analyzed by everyone. Anyway, this is not the longest blog ever, but my goal was to let you know that this book is incredible! I don't have a lot of time, but you need to read this book! Thank you for reading my post! Also, just as a quick reminder, for the first week of March in recognition of National Book Week, I am hosting a reading competition through this blog! More information to come soon, but if you want the details right now, you can go to my "Bookish Dates" tab. Thank you!
- I'm So Happy You're Here: A Celebration of Library Joy
At the school I go to, once you are in 8th grade and have good enough grades, you have the opportunity to have one of your electives inside a little kid's classroom (we are a K-8 school, so some of them are REALLY little). I'm a TA (teacher assistant) in a 4th-grade classroom, and I love it. A few days ago, one of the kids came up to me and said, "Here's a gift." It was an adorable little picture book. I read it and gave it back to him. Granted, it was a cute book, but my family had literally just filtered out picture books because they were taking up too much space. He tells me that he wants me to take it as a gift and I should keep it, knowing fully well that I don't really need this book. I say okay and start walking towards their classroom communal bookshelf, when he yells, "Wait, I think I wanna keep it!" I say okay, and then and only then, he remembers that he has a tiny little brother at home that would love a picture book. I felt bad for not taking the picture book, but also not too bad because I knew it would be put to good use. Therefore, I promised him to blog about this book sometime this week. Here we go! I'm So Happy You're Here: A Celebration of Library Joy is about how everyone is accepted in a library. Mychal Threets was the author of this book and even leaves a two-page note at the end explaining how he fell in love with libraries and wanted to share his love with the world. The illustrations by Lorraine Nam are just as beautiful as the message itself. The photo at the bottom shows just how detailed all of the illustrations are. This is a sample I pulled from the book, and everything appears to be very intentional. It really drives the message that "... the library is a place where you'll always belong" (Threets 5). You'll notice how there are people of all different races, disabilities, and even species! This book is made up entirely of vibrant colors to appeal to young kids' eyes. Ultimately, the point of this book was to indicate this: no matter who you are or where you come from you, can fall in love with the library. And in my opinion, if you can fall in love with a library, you can almost certainly fall in love with books! I'm so happy that I have started blogging again. I know I said every Wednesday, so today was just an extra blog for my TA student. I'm (genuinely) so happy you're here. Thank you for reading! I hope to see you soon! This photo was found on the Amazon preview of I'm So Happy You're Here: A Library Celebration.
- Atmosphere ~T.J.R.
I'm dead. I'm literally dead. What can be said about a book that is this good. Speechless. Crying. In love. I was way too emotionally attached to this book, and I have no regrets. Period. Yes! I loved this book if you couldn't already tell, but before I give my review, I need to discuss a few updates throughout my blog. A quick reminder that conventional errors are just going to be a part of my blogs, and I have come to peace with that (so like... don't mind all my mistakes). I have added a categories bar so you can filter all my posts by the age range you are looking for and genre. I post most of the books that I read on here, but some of them are just so incredible and I don't give them the credit they deserve on my post. Therefore, I have added a "Favorites (Must-Reads)" category. I genuinely don't care how old you are, at some point in your life you must read these books. Anyways, if you press the "more" option you can then filter by genre, but the age ranges are on the bar to be more accessible. Also please consider that the age ratings is either when I read the book or when I think I should've read the book. If you know that reading is more challenging, they might not fit your expectations. I have also made my search section a little clearer and accessible. My blog has stayed the same, but just a little more user-friendly. Thank you! Atmosphere is excellent. I had read one TJR (Taylor Jenkins Reid) book before this and also loved it. For that reason, I walked into the book expecting a comfort-read that I would enjoy. Instead, I got a book that absolutely loved. This is the kind of book that I laughed aloud in class in a moment of joy and strained not to cry in class in a moment of despair. This book is not for everyone... and I get that! BUT... it was for me and I believe that many of my readers would enjoy it as well. My friend recommended this to me, and while I was hesitant at first, I fell in love. Throughout Atmosphere, the main character Jane Goodwin (a NASA employee) finds a life she is meant to live, a job she is meant to love, and a lover she is meant to be with, but what if one of those costs everything else? This book takes place in a dual timeline. The book starts at the end and then goes back to explain all the history through years and years. After that, it spontaneously brings you back to the end of the book to slowly build your knowledge of the moment. Goodwin starts her career at NASA as an ASCAN (astronaut candidate) and end as a Mission Control CAPCOM (the person who directly communicates to the astronauts in the capsule). I went into this book knowing nothing about the sky except for the Big Dipper and Camelopardalis (due to a random science project in 6th grade). You don't need to be a space expert to read this... at all! I have read some comments of people who know a lot about space complaining about the basic space talk and lack of true, but the thing is TJR realizes that and acknowledges it. She didn't mean to write an informative thesis on the galaxy. Instead, she wrote a romance. In the acknowledgments TJR writes, "It was incredibly challenging to get close to Joan and *******'s world. So much of my growth as a writer was in accepting that my work cannot and never will be flawless. I am flawed; my scope of understanding the world is limited" (Reid 235). She acknowledges the readers who know more than her even though she spent so much time researching the sky. That takes character, and she resembles this honestly all the way through her raw, heart-felt novel. Not to mention, this quote also exemplifies her beautiful writing skills! I literally finished the book today and wanted to immediately post about it in hopes of not forgetting anything. I have tried to avoid some topics in this blog to prevent spoilers, but if you feel like this was too vague, just leave a comment and I can elaborate. I would 100% recommend this book to anyone who comes my way! Thank you for recommending this book (you know who you are)! Have a nice day!
- "THE WILD ROBOT!"
I read "The Wild Robot" and it was so emotional especially for my mom. She was crying. Roz is a robot who ends up on a island but does not have a human. All the other robots died so she makes friends with the animals. One day Roz adopted a gosling and that is really where the action begins. This book takes place in the future so every human has a robot to do their jobs. I think Roz is so cool because she adapts to her life and a single act of kindness makes her famous and loved. I loved this book and I am so excited to read "The Wild Robot Escapes"

Book of recommendation: Piggie and Gerald! Written by Mo Willams DESCRIPTION Great Friends Hilarious Kind Early Learner Animals These books are easy to read and I even like to read them just for enjoyment. My favorite is probably "We are in a Book." But I promise that all of the books will make kids, children and even adults crack up. My family loves these books and other books by Mo Willems, too. Like "Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!!!" Mo Willems is an amazing kids author and I would recommend him to you.

- "The House That Wasn't There" Part 2
Morning! First I would like to say that if you have not read part 1 of this go ahead and read it now. Okay lets take a dip into this book. The end of the book is unexpected and emotional. I really do not want to spoil it for you though. Everything comes together and to be honest some of my predictions failed but that was okay because they were just theories. This might be one of my favorite books. It was an amazing book you try and read it! Tell me what you think of it. This book covers grief, mystery, love, happiness, and especially disagreement. Unknown friends, cats, opossums, magic, trees, school, and parents. I loved this book. I recommend it for anyone who has similar taste to me.
- Harriet the Spy Part 3
If you like books that have morals this book is for you First off Ole Golly says a lot of wise stuff and in the letter she sent Harriet some words stood out to me: " Another thing, if you're missing me I want you to know that I am not missing you. Gone is gone. I never miss anything or anyone because it all becomes a lovely memory. I guard my memories and love them, but I don't get in them and lie down." I told you she was wise. It has other morals to like things resolve and good friends help each other even in anger with each other. The book ends and a lot of things circle back to happiness. I feel good for Harriet. I just finished the book yesterday.(September 3, 2021) was the day I finished it. She also learned from her mistakes and now is writing a book and memories no more mean things. That is basically it.
- Harriet The Spy Part 1/How I choose the books I read
First of all I have know idea why "Book 2" was written in my book. So I guess I've read book 1? I think all of the books might be in 1 book so I will give you what happens in "book 1" without spoiling anything. Harriet the spy is about a young girl in 6th grade. She dreams of being a spy and by the looks of it her dream will come true she spies real deal on people at her spy route. Her friends Sport and Jannie are supportive they have a triangle, all three of them supporting each other. It is full of mysteries but is not scary and is very well written. Now time for how I choose my books and a thanks to Katrina. I choose my books based off of the level I read at, books I have read in the past and liked, and books my mom loved when she was my age. For example a book that I just read my mom loved as a kid. She loved it so much that she wanted to read it with me and like 5 minutes she was yelling. " I forgot how good this book was. That book was also at the level I read at. It was not based on previous books because I have not read many books like it. If I follow at least 1/3 of these it will be a good book. The more of these steps I follow, the better the book ( usually) Thanks Katrina for this question and I hope everyone liked this blog and maybe some of you were inspired by how I choose my books.
