DANNY THE CHAMPION OF THE WORLD
Hello! Let us just hop right back into books. Last week we discussed Danny the Champion of the World. Danny learns a secret from his dad, as you learned last week. This secret pulls him into a crazy adventure. The adventure comes with the creative process and changing the way of doing the secret. Danny does it. It scares him. His dad says "That is the fun of it!" In my opinion, with all the books I have read, I am not sure Danny feels comfortable doing it. Of coarse sweet little Danny loves doing anything with his dad and he supports his dad but I have the vibe that he is not liking it. This book has surprised me many times, though. That is why part of me expects him to like it. Still I do not feel any sign of him liking to do it. We will surly see.
I chose this book because of the author. If somebody asked me my top three favorite authors I would say " Out of all the great books I have read. I have got to say J.K. Rowling, Lois Lowery, and Roald Dahl are my favorite. They are all tied in first place though. They are not all in that order. All of them get first place, so I guess it cannot be first. Then what is it, though? Anyways, I got Danny the Champion of the World because of the author, Roald Dahl. I realized I had not read one of his books in a while. He is such a good author! I can say my favorite authors easily but my favorite book not so much. I usually just say whatever book I am currently reading. This book is so interesting so if you have questions about the adventure they go on or the secret, I recommend reading the book!
WHO WAS DR. SUESS?
For many of you, when I say "Dr. Suess" you may think of "Cat in the Hat" or "Green Eggs and Ham." He is more than just a writer. He changed children's books. Children used to learn to read by reading the same words over and over again. Now they have fun reading and actually learn at the same time. As a kid Dr. Suess liked to visit the zoo. When he came back home, he would paint what he had spotted at the zoo onto the walls of his room. The creatures never ended up looking just like what he saw, but he still had fun painting them.
Did you know that Suess is actually his middle name? He also went by "Dr." before he got his doctorate so once he got his doctorate he claimed he was " Dr. Dr. Suess." He really said "Suess" like " Zoyce." That was the German fashion of saying his name. People called him " Suess", though. He liked that it rhymed with " mother goose" so he took in the name and used it.
