Divergent
I recently finished the book Divergent written by Veronica Roth. Similarly to Scythe, this book was gifted to me, but it had been on my radar for a while. My good friend and my cousin had both recommended this book to me. Divergent is part of a trilogy, the two other books being Insurgent and Allegiant . The story is set in a dystopian world, where there are separate "factions." In this society, every sixteen year old takes an aptitude test, a simulation where natural ab

Scythe
Recently, I read a book called Scythe . I initially saw people in my class reading this book. Uniquely, all of these readers overlapped in a Venn diagram when it came to the Hunger Games Series . All of them loved it. Knowing I absolutely loved the Hunger Games as well, I figured I would enjoy it too. Later on that year, Scythe was given to me as a gift. Now that I have read it I can say with certainty that this book was amazing, though not as good as the Hunger Games. Scyt

The Hobbit
I just finished the Hobbit and it was amazing! I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in fantasy fiction. Since I used this book as my book report book, I figured my post will be based upon my book report. The Hobbit is a well-told tale of a journey to retrieve gold and slay a dragon named Smaug who protects the treasure. Bilbo Baggins, a petite hobbit, embarked on this wildly exciting adventure with thirteen other dwarves by the names of Thorin, Fili, Kili, Dwali

I'm Back!!!
I have still been reading a lot but I wasn't able to post at all over the summer. I'm really bad about trying to carve out time to blog. I finally realized blogging makes me feel better. The sense of accomplishment is what fulfills me. I've read Little Women, Jacob Have I Loved , and I'm currently reading the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. I wrote a fictional narrative for my English Language Arts class and next on my list of books to read is Scythe! I'm currently readin

Catching Fire🔥- by Susanne Collins
I haven't posted much lately. My books have been getting longer but I have posted on each one. I'll try to post more often, but I truly am doing my best. Anyways lets get to the point! Catching Fire is the second book in the Hunger Games. I believe you could read it without reading the first book it might be slightly more difficult but to be honest she spends a lot of time reviewing what happened in the first book. Catching Fire explores the theme of rebellion in the sense t

The Hunger Games- by Susanne Collins
Last week, I told you I was reading an amazing book but didn't tell what it was. Well, its The Hunger Games. I have been reading the Hunger Games every spare second I have. The character development of this book is excellent and you are on constant edge to see if these characters you love with all your heart are alive. The Hunger Games is about what could happen in the future. They are divided into districts that all rule under the Capitol. Once a year one boy and one girl a

Halloween👻
Sorry I haven't posted in a month ( and for doing the Halloween post late). I'm trying to get through a 500 page book so I can blog about it. Until then I can't blog about that specific book but I can tell you about a book that every night before Halloween my mom, my sister, and I read together. It's called Space Case! Every Halloween we gather around to look at the pictures in Space Case. Yes, this is a children's picture book. This means if you have younger kids this would

Julie and the Wolves
I recently learned about a new book report that my teacher assigned the requirement is that the book must be a Newbery Award winner. I was trying to decide between Jacob, Have I Loved and Julie and the Wolves. Eventually, I decided on Julie and the Wolves. I like to decide what books to read based on their backs. Typically, an author will write a short summary there and I'll decide if it sounds interesting. I have just started Julie and the Wolves but I think I have a pretty

The Subtle Knife- by Phillip Pullman
I want to start off by saying if you haven't read my other post about The Golden Compass then this post won't make much sense. I'd also like to say that this might include some spoilers if you haven't read book one yet. I did a book report on The Subtle Knife, and I truly enjoyed it. I have said before that I don't really like mystery books. This fact still stands, but I do think that this book has some amount of mystery to it that I like. Maybe it is my taste in books chan

The Golden Compass- By Phillup Pullman
I read this book over the summer. Typically, I’m not great about reading over the summer but this book was amazing and I couldn’t put it down. It was fascinating. I just felt like I was in it. If anyone reading this has watched the never ending story that is sort of how I felt. I really didn’t think about the external world around me when I read the book. I loved every second of reading this book because it is intense at some points and inventive at others. This book is also

Hatchet
I have just finished a great book recommended by a friend, Hatchet. Brian Robeson's parents are divorced. He lives most of the year with his mom and he can visit his dad in the summer (not because he wants to but because that is what the court ruled). Brian couldn't wait to see his dad who lived in the oil fields of Canada. Only Brian and the pilot were in the plane heading towards Canada. All of the sudden the pilots starts complaining about chest pain. Then the unimaginable

The Blog that Got Away From Me
As we are digging deeper and deeper into the holiday season I thought it would be nice to do some Christmas books. The book I will be talking about has been made into three different movies because it was such a hit! I've always loved this specific book because of its moral. I am also a huge fan of rhyming! The book is How the Grinch Stole Christmas! The book was made by Dr. Suess who has also made The Cat and the Hat, One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish, and Green Eg

The One and Only Ivan
I am constantly reading books. I am still reading Harry Potter, but one thing you may not know is that every night before bedtime, my mom reads me a chapter (or a few!) of a book. Usually we read chapter books, but occasionally, she reads me picture books. Currently, she is reading me The One and Only Ivan. So far, the book is sad. It is about a silverback-an adult male gorilla- that lives in a mall for a circus. In the book the gorilla- Ivan- expresses himself. He talks a

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (5) -Part One
I have moved on to the next Harry Potter book. It is the longest of all of them. I jumped right back into the chaos. Voldemort is back. It seems like nobody believes Harry when he says that, though. Do people believe everything they read? Harry feels like too many people trust what the Daily Prophet writes about him. Aside from people being brainwashed by the Daily Prophet , Harry has to face a new Defense Against Dark Arts Teacher and a new Care of Magical Creatures teac

Gift Giving With Books/ Susan and the Butterbees/ Frankie and Bug
Gift Giving With Books Hello! Sorry for posting late this week. I also realize that a few days after Christmas is probably the worst time to post about gift giving, but I am still going to post about this. Here are some ideas for December birthdays, any birthday, a holiday, or really anything. One of the best books I have received is a book called Frankie and Bug. It was from my mom's friend. This is the book I am currently reading. I know gift giving may be hard when you

Danny and the Champion of the World/ Who Was Dr. Suess?
DANNY THE CHAMPION OF THE WORLD Hello! Let us just hop right back into books. Last week we discussed Danny the Champion of the World. Danny learns a secret from his dad, as you learned last week. This secret pulls him into a crazy adventure. The adventure comes with the creative process and changing the way of doing the secret. Danny does it. It scares him. His dad says "That is the fun of it!" In my opinion, with all the books I have read, I am not sure Danny feels comf

The Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler
Good morning! Today I am going to finish blogging about "The Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler." I loved this book and may I point out that it won the Newbery Award. This is a big metal for a book. In the other half of the book that I did not tell you about Claudia and Jamie meet Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler. She is the one writing the files, too. Claudia also finds a statue named "Angel." It may or may not of been made by Michelangelo. Claudia would like to find the

Sorry that I have not posted lately. I have been busy. To be honest I'm busy today too but I think I can squeeze this in. Let me tell you in advance I most likely will not be blogging next week because my family and I are going on vacation. I do have bad news for you though, I was not enjoying island of the Blue Dolphins that much so I stopped reading it. Now I am reading "The Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler." I will say I like this book because it is really like
