Scythe
Recently, I read a book called Scythe . I initially saw people in my class reading this book. Uniquely, all of these readers overlapped in a Venn diagram when it came to the Hunger Games Series . All of them loved it. Knowing I absolutely loved the Hunger Games as well, I figured I would enjoy it too. Later on that year, Scythe was given to me as a gift. Now that I have read it I can say with certainty that this book was amazing, though not as good as the Hunger Games. Scyt

I'm Back!!!
I have still been reading a lot but I wasn't able to post at all over the summer. I'm really bad about trying to carve out time to blog. I finally realized blogging makes me feel better. The sense of accomplishment is what fulfills me. I've read Little Women, Jacob Have I Loved , and I'm currently reading the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. I wrote a fictional narrative for my English Language Arts class and next on my list of books to read is Scythe! I'm currently readin

Happy Mother's Day!
Happy Mother's Day and first I'd like to send appreciation to every mother out there, especially my mom, who provided my love for reading. Currently we are reading the same book together. It is called The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes and it is a prequel for the beloved by all Hunger Games Series. It explains President Snow's (the antagonist of the Hunger Game's Series ) childhood and how warm he actually was as a child. What changed him from a star crossed lover to a dist

The Hunger Games- by Susanne Collins
Last week, I told you I was reading an amazing book but didn't tell what it was. Well, its The Hunger Games. I have been reading the Hunger Games every spare second I have. The character development of this book is excellent and you are on constant edge to see if these characters you love with all your heart are alive. The Hunger Games is about what could happen in the future. They are divided into districts that all rule under the Capitol. Once a year one boy and one girl a

Temple Grandin
Think of a fat, juicy hamburger with everything you love on it right at your fingertips. Now I'm not trying to make you feel guilty, but now think of the cow that used to live. About 900,000 cows get slaughtered per day and a lot of these cows feel scared, uncomfortable, and harmed during the process. Temple Grandin has always had a sincere love for animals. Today she works to make a better life for animals that live in a slaughterhouse. Many animals get abused and live thei

Linked-by Gordon Korman
***The following book and review will have heavy topics about the neo-Nazi movement. I am currently reading this book called Linked. I chose it because I already knew I love the author, Gordon Korman. He wrote Unplugged (a book I have read), along with many others such as: Resart , Ungifted , Unteachables , Master Mind , Swindle , Slacker , etc. I have heard from a close friend that has read quite a few of these that they are all amazing. We are here to talk about Linked t

Fortune Falls- by Jenny Goebel
Let me start with a little backstory of how I learned about Fortune Falls. At my school we have a thing called Accelerated Reader. This is a program to see if you are reading books at your level and reading enough books. Since I got so into the "His Dark Materials" series, I fell just a few points short of my AR (Accelerated Reader) goal. I went to the school library to find a book and by chance my friend was in there too. She said that Fortune Falls was among one of the best

The Amber Spyglass- by Phillip Pullman
'The Amber Spyglass,' is the third and final book in this series. I posted a little late because I was trying to finish my book. That was a lot of talk about how I read the book but what about what I actually read. Well, the book itself is really good, you won't understand a thing it says though f you start on the third book. I like how the book makes you feel like everything it is saying could be true. You know it is impossible, but they are in different worlds so it very w

Julie and the Wolves
I recently learned about a new book report that my teacher assigned the requirement is that the book must be a Newbery Award winner. I was trying to decide between Jacob, Have I Loved and Julie and the Wolves. Eventually, I decided on Julie and the Wolves. I like to decide what books to read based on their backs. Typically, an author will write a short summary there and I'll decide if it sounds interesting. I have just started Julie and the Wolves but I think I have a pretty

Ban This Book
Good morning! I just read a book called "Ban This Book" by Alan Gratz. I have mentioned it in a previous blog post when I was interviewing Erin . "Ban This Book" is about a girl my age who is always good and follows the rules. She absolutely loves books so much so that she lies to her parents that she is in an extracurricular activity when she is really just passing time reading at the library. One day, Mrs.Spencer (one of Amy's classmate's Mom), the president of the PTA ba

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
*** Warning some spoilers ahead (I will avoid major spoilers)*** I have been out of the blogging routine but I plan to start it up again. Please don't forget to comment on my blog if you have a question. I hope you all have had a great summer (with lots of reading ). I read "the Deathly Hallows" BEFORE Summer but I just thought I should post about it because I have posted all the other Harry Potter books. This is by far my favorite Harry Potter book. It has so many plot twi

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince
Hello. I will sort of be posting out of order since I have already posted about the Deathly Hallows (but that was AI, does it really count?!?!) I will be posting about the sixth book in the series: Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. (This post may be very confusing due to these books being long and confusing but I promise it is a really good book!) At the beginning, Harry stayed at the Burrow just to find out that Fluer Delacour had moved in. Apparently, Fluer and Bill

Nancy Drew and the Secret of Red Gate Farm #6
In class we are working on mystery book reports. I'd like to make it very clear that I typically do not really like the mystery genre, mostly due to their eerie feeling. Luckily, for this book report though I found a mystery book that I liked. The Secret of Red Gate Farm is a pretty short book ( 178 pages ) written by Carolyn Keene. We only had two weeks to read the book and to the book report though. I highly suggest this book if you have a mystery book assignment because i

Unplugged
Sorry that I have not posted in a month but I have been busy. A friend recommended this book (along with another book that I posted about last week). I loved her first recommendation so much that I decided to read Unplugged. This book is turning out to be really good. Unfortunately, I have had to stop reading Unplugged mid-way through because of a book report. I can tell where the book is going, though. This book is interesting because each chapter is in another person's per

Hatchet
I have just finished a great book recommended by a friend, Hatchet. Brian Robeson's parents are divorced. He lives most of the year with his mom and he can visit his dad in the summer (not because he wants to but because that is what the court ruled). Brian couldn't wait to see his dad who lived in the oil fields of Canada. Only Brian and the pilot were in the plane heading towards Canada. All of the sudden the pilots starts complaining about chest pain. Then the unimaginable

Anne of Avonlea
The first book, Anne of Green Gables was so good! That made me want to read the next book. I have not been disappointed with Anne of Avonlea. This book was made in 1909 and was published by L.M Montgomery. The book has exceeded my standards. The first book is about Anne growing up and becoming a woman. Now, the second book is about her being a woman and what she does with her life. I have to admit that I did like the first one a slight bit better because Anne was high-spiri

Anne of Green Gables ( book 1) - L.M. Montgomery
I have said that Harry Potter might have been my favorite book, but my favorite book is constantly changing! Right now my favorite book is definitely Anne of Green Gables. This book is a true classic. It was published first in 1908!!! The book has barely aged since the excitements of being a young girl last forever. The main character, Anne Shirley, is eleven years old. Anne has a wild imagination and wise thoughts. She also talks a ton; sometimes she talks too much. One of

Ramona the Pest
My mom started to read us the Ramona series again. I want to clarify that I'm not reading these books, but my mom is reading my sister and me this book. It's perfect for kids around the age of 7, but I still like listening to them. Ramona the Pest is about a young girl, Ramona, going into kindergarten. Ramona has a horrible first day and gets in trouble many times. She is not a bad girl, though. She just has a lot of misunderstandings. She didn't know that of she pulled on S

School Days According to Humphrey
Last year in fourth grade, my teacher read my class The World According to Humphrey by Betty G. Birney. My class absolutely loved it. I finished my book about Marie Antoinette on September 23, so I I had nothing to read. I went to my class bookshelf and saw the book School Days According to Humphrey. Since loved the first book so much, I decided to read this one. This is a great way to pick out books because when you find an author you like you can read many of their books

The Royal Diaries: Marie Antoinette Princess of Versailles
I am reading The Royal Diaries: Marie Antoinette Princess of Versailles. If you don't already know, Marie Antoinette was the Princess of Versailles. She was born into Austrian Royalty and had to marry well. This book is based on her life and tells Marie's innermost thoughts. Marie Antoinette explains how she feels about the marriage. I like to think Marie Antoinette wrote it. This book is not word for word of what she wrote because it is fiction. Either way it is a good book
