In class we are working on mystery book reports. I'd like to make it very clear that I typically do not really like the mystery genre, mostly due to their eerie feeling. Luckily, for this book report though I found a mystery book that I liked. The Secret of Red Gate Farm is a pretty short book ( 178 pages ) written by Carolyn Keene. We only had two weeks to read the book and to the book report though. I highly suggest this book if you have a mystery book assignment because it is so short, there are so many characters, there are a lot of plot twists and you will enjoy reading it.

The beginning to the middle of the book is really just setting the scene and giving you a lot of clues that don't go together at all. At the beginning, Nancy and her friends (Bess and George) mention how a saleslady avoids trying to sell them a bottle of perfume. Even though at the time I thought "it's just perfume!," this is actually a big hint. That same day they ride a train back to River Heights and encounter a girl who has fainted on the train. Nancy, Bess, and George immediately help the girl. The young girl says her name is Joanne. She lives at Red Gate Farm and is looking for a job so that they don't have to sell Red Gate Farm. Nancy and her companions help and bond with Joanne for the rest of the book. I liked this book because it wasn't too creepy, but it also has a big mystery hidden in plain sight.

I have finished my book report, and I think it turned out nicely. I have done another post on a Nancy Drew book titled, Nancy Drew and the Quest of the Missing Map, (apparently that was for a book report too)! I'm glad I could find some time to post again. I love posting so much but my schedule keeps getting busier. If you have any questions always comment below or ... READ THE BOOK!!
