Do you know the phrase "cannot put a book down?" That is what happens to me with The Giver. Literally. I like this book so much that I could read it for hours. I have so much to say about this book. One thing I'd like to say is that you really feel like you are in the book when you read it. I know these are things a lot of people say about books, but it is true. I personally love books by Lois Lowery. Again, I said this at the beginning of my blog, but I want you to remember you do not have to like all books or all of the book recommendations. Several people liked "Island of the Blue Dolphins" but I did not like it. I would recommend "Island of the Blue Dolphins" not because I liked it but because so many other people liked it. Back to the Giver though. It may actually be my new favorite book. I give it 5 star reviews out of 5 stars. It is not over the top but it is just perfect. It is about a young boy named Jonas. In their land they have ceremonies every year for becoming ages one through twelve. At the age of twelve you are assigned a job. The
Elders watch your volunteer hours and pick the perfect job. Jonas has been doing everything though, and he has no clue what he will get. His assignment comes with pain. It also comes with happiness though. What will happen? What is his job? Is it his true calling? Wait scratch that last question out. Who am I kidding? The Elders are never wrong. Or are they? Read this amazing exciting book. I highly recommend it. Good bye for today.
