The First Visit/ On the Shores of Silver Lake
My First Visit! Hello! I just went on a trip to Colorado. It had been years since Winter Park had a bookstore but someone came in and fixed that. Miriam Roskam loves books. She hated that she had to drive hours just to go to a bookstore. Therefore, she opened a bookstore of her own. Her bookstore is called Mountain Shire Books and Gifts! It is a tiny, little place but has tons of books! My mom got the very book her book club was reading without even looking for it! ( It is c

Gift Giving With Books/ Susan and the Butterbees/ Frankie and Bug
Gift Giving With Books Hello! Sorry for posting late this week. I also realize that a few days after Christmas is probably the worst time to post about gift giving, but I am still going to post about this. Here are some ideas for December birthdays, any birthday, a holiday, or really anything. One of the best books I have received is a book called Frankie and Bug. It was from my mom's friend. This is the book I am currently reading. I know gift giving may be hard when you

Time For Bed Miyuki
Sorry I have not been posting. I've been on vacation with no WiFi. By the way shout out to Erin with the first comment it was so sweet and nice. Anyways here is a book to read to your kids before bed. "Time for Bed Miyuki" is about a young girl who now has to go to bed and has so much more to do. I can imagine that a lot of kids can relate to this. Days fly by very quickly. The wording that the author uses is nice and the illustrations in this book are beautiful, too.

Piggie and Gerald
Morning! To day I will be blogging about early readers. My sister is actually a beginner, too. Now the kind I am talking about is that they know how to read just are unsecure on some words. Take for example the sentence "My dog ate the grass weirdly," they could slowly read it but need help on "weirdly." Now do you understand the level we are talking about? Good. Book of recommendation: Piggie and Gerald! Written by Mo Willams DESCRIPTION Great Friends Hilarious Kind Early

"THE WILD ROBOT!"
I read "The Wild Robot" and it was so emotional especially for my mom. She was crying. Roz is a robot who ends up on a island but does not have a human. All the other robots died so she makes friends with the animals. One day Roz adopted a gosling and that is really where the action begins. This book takes place in the future so every human has a robot to do their jobs. I think Roz is so cool because she adapts to her life and a single act of kindness makes her famous and lo

How reading changes your perspective
Reading changes your perspective in reality you can reflect back on what happened in you book and what is happening now. You can compare and contrast. You can get ideas. You can see similarities. You have a different take on reality. You also can put yourself in the characters shoes. You will be able to think "Oh in that scenario I would..." Doing this helps you predict your books and people who can predict parts of their books are usually good readers. This is why I like r

The art of writing
It is not only reading that changes you it is writing, too. Spilling your ideas, opinion, thoughts, knowledge, and imagination on to paper. Sometimes people feel that they cannot tell anyone something. Sometimes it feels that no one will listen. Paper will listen and you can trust it to keep a secret. This is partly why people have diaries. I won't talk about writing much because that is not what my blog is about, but I know and you should know that I love writing. Blogging i

My new digital reading habits
I mostly read with hard copy books but I know some people might read ebooks or have a kindle. When I do read a book online I listen to an audio book. That is still not really reading, though. I do read some ebooks, though. I read "Because of Winn Dixie" electronically. The internet has gotten so powerful it even has books?!?!?!?
